UHF Technology
Ultra-high frequency (UHF) technology based RFID systems provide longer operating distances and better read-rates compared to HF RFID systems. In addition to retail, UHF RFID systems are employed in various supply chain management applications.
The frequency used for ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID systems varies between 860 and 960 MHz. UHF RFID systems operate between 902 and 928 MHz in North America, at 868 MHz in Europe and at 950 MHz in Asia (Japan).
UHF RFID systems are widely deployed due to RFID mandates from several large corporations, including international retailers like Metro and Walmart, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
