BACKGROUND
Siemens Enterprise Communications Manufacturing GmbH & Co. KG (SECM) is a system service provider for the Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) with an annual turnover of EUR 260 million and a production site in Leipzig, Germany.

CHALLENGE SECM wanted to reduce the amount of manual work in its operations and speed up the logistics, installation and service processes.

SOLUTION

  • UPM RFID's globally functioning Web RFID inlay programmed with a unique identification number is embedded inside each business telephone.
  • The Web RFID inlay has ideal dimensions and excellent performance even when it is embedded into the phone's plastic protective cover. Moreover, it is not affected by the nearness of other RFID tags.
SUCCESS Siemens is able to read data from the RFID tagged phones in the logistics center without having to unpack them from the boxes. When linked with the CRM systems, it is possible to track customer deliveries and gain base data for evaluations and stock overviews. The RFID tag inside the phone also makes counterfeit or imitations nearly impossible.
